The Chinese Ministry of Defense accused the American missile destroyer Benfold on the invasion of the territorial waters near the PRC near the Sisha archipelago (Parasiel Islands). This is reported by TASS with reference to the official representative of the southern zone of the combat command of the People’s Liberation Army of China (NAK) Tian Junley.
According to the military, the United States approached the islands “without obtaining the relevant permission of the Government of China.” Beijing was indignant by Washington’s actions in the South China Sea and demanded to stop such provocations.
Tian Junley pointed out that the observation of the American ship was the air forces of NAK, and also made him a warning about the need to leave the water area. “Facts once again prove that the United States is steadily are a safety risks manufacturer in the South China Sea, as well as the largest violater of peace and stability,” he said.
This is not the first case when the PRC accuses the United States in the “violation of sovereignty and security” due to the entry of American ships in the water area of the controversial islands. In September 2021, the Ministry of Defense of China accused the American destroyer Benfold on the invasion of territorial waters near Nansha Islands (Spratley Archipelago). In Beijing, it is believed that the PRC has “indisputable sovereignty” over the islands in the South China Sea and the waters near them.
The islands of two archipelagos – Parasielsky and Sprati – for the most part uninhabited, but the surrounding waters are rich in fish, and imported shipping routes are running through them. According to geologists estimates, gas and oil deposits can be located on the ocean day. The territory of the islands is disputed by six states: Vietnam, PRC, the Republic of Town (Taiwan), Malaysia, Philippines and Brunhem.
August 30, China’s Marine Security Office stated that all foreign vessels are obliged to report the location at the entrance to the “Chinese” territorial water. We are talking about the Russians of Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and others. Now foreign ships are obliged to report to the Chinese administration their callsign, as well as transfer information about transported loads.
