Finland will introduce a state of emergency due to situation with COVID-19

The Finnish government is preparing to introduce a state of emergency due to the deterioration of the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic. It is reported by Helsingin Sanomat with reference to sources.

The Cabinet of Ministers intends to declare PE regime together with the president. After that, with the consent of Parliament, an emergency law will be enforced to maintain the functioning of the health system. The purpose of the law is to ensure the work of social and medical care at the initial stage, and not the introduction of new restrictions. It is assumed that this issue will be discussed next week by the ministerial working group on coronavirus.

During the Pandemic period, Finland added a state of emergency – in the spring of 2020 and 2021.

In September last year, Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin called the condition for the abolition of coronavirus restrictions in the country. According to her, the authorities will remove the remaining restrictions after 80 percent of the inhabitants of the country over the age of 12 will be brought from COVID-19.
