Representatives of the United States promised to answer the questions about security guarantees, which were discussed at the Russian-American negotiations in Geneva, next week. This was told about the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, RIA Novosti reports.
Earlier, on January 13, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that Moscow expects from Washington and its allies to response to their safety proposals. At the same time, he stressed that in Russia there are no populist statements from the United States, but argued written proposals.
On January 10, negotiations were held in Geneva on security guarantees and strategic stability between the delegations of Russia and the United States. As clarified the official representative of the State Department, a total of a discussion between officials of the two countries lasted about 7.5 hours.
Deputy Head of the Foreign Ministry of Russia Sergey Ryabkov, summing up, stated that Moscow has no confidence that Washington will fulfill legally executed agreements on security guarantees if the parties conclude an agreement. He also noted that the negotiations were long and complex.
