Tokayev estimated timing of recovery of Alma-Ata after riots in Kazakhstan

The President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev estimated the periods of recovery of the city of Alma-Ata after the riots. He stated this on the air “Khabar 24” TV channel.

According to him, to restore objects will need eight months, but the work will continue further.

Previously, Tokayev signed a decree according to which the state of emergency (PE), declared in Kazakhstan due to the mass riots, from Thursday, January 13 will be canceled in part of the regions. The head of state ordered to relieve restrictions at once in three regions of the country: Pavlodar, West Kazakhstan and North Kazakhstan.

Protests in Kazakhstan began on January 2 due to the rapid growth of gas engine fuel prices. Soon, economic requirements were replaced by political: government resignation, holding new elections, consideration of the issue of lustration of people from the “clan” of the former President of Nursultan Nazarbayev.
