According to the position of NATO countries, the principle of indivisibility of security exists only for alliance members. This was stated by the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexander Grushko at a press conference following the meeting of the Council of Russia – NATO, broadcast is available on YouTube-channel RBC.
Diplomat noted that on NATO security issues, only the interests of the organization’s countries takes into account. At the same time, according to him, attempts to build security against Russia without its participation counterproductive and doomed to failure. Grushko pointed to the readiness of Moscow, do not give this alliance to do.
“If NATO goes to the deterrence policy, then from our part there will be a policy of counter-hold, if there is an intimidation, then there will be a consistency,” the deputy head of the Foreign Ministry promised. He clarified that this is not a choice of Russia, but if it fails to turn the current, very dangerous course of events, another path will not remain.
Previously, Grushko said that during the negotiations of the Council Russia – NATO Moscow honestly indicated the Alliance for serious risks to which further deterioration of relationships could lead to. According to him, at the moment, cooperation between Moscow and the North Atlantic Alliance in the areas of common interests is fully suspended.
