Rosstat provided final data on inflation in Russia. This is stated in materials published on the office website.
Following the year, inflation was 8.39 percent, the indicator was higher in 2015, when inflation jumped to 12.9 percent. Products last year went up by 10.62 percent, and services – almost 5 percent. Food goods in December went up by 1.36 percent, and over the year – by 10.62 percent, non-food products – by 0.64 and 8.58 percent, respectively.
At the same time, in the first ten days of 2022 prices increased by 0.56 percent. To a greater degree, the rise in prices was reflected in food: cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage and carrots (from 3.61 to 7.4 percent). Among non-food products, new passenger cars have risen.
As shown by the recent survey of the World Economic Forum (WEF), the failure in the struggle with the rise in prices is one of the main risks for Russia. According to the results of 2021, as evaluated in the Central Bank of Russia, inflation should exceed 8 percent. Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that the rise in prices is of world nature, and the main causes of inflation are the soft budget policy of a number of countries.
