To ensure security in Europe, the North Atlantic Alliance returned to the use of the tools of the Cold War. This was stated by the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Alexander Grushko, following the meeting of the Council of Russia – NATO. The broadcast of its press conference is conducted on the YouTube channel “TV channel 360”.
Speaking about the current situation, Grushko noted the deterioration of the “safety landscape” in Europe. In this, he accused NATO, as the Alliance returned to the schemes for ensuring the safety of 1949. He noted that at the head of the angle the Alliance puts the departure of Russia and allocates enormous resources to it.
Deputy Foreign Ministry also noticed that NATO does not hide the main purpose of the Alliance – the containment of Russia. According to him, this fact acts destroying attempts to build European security on other principles. In addition, Grushko reminded that the Alliance continues to expand towards Russian borders.
Diplomat said that such a situation creates unpredictable risks for security in Europe. In addition, Grushko laid responsibility for the full degradation of the arms control system, which, according to the results of the Cold War, has developed between Russia and the Alliance.
