The famous Latvian composer and author Raimond Pauls found his homeland as uninteresting both for the European markets and for the countries of the former USSR. Reflections he shared on his birthday, reports Sputnik.
“You know, I have a feeling that we have become a deaf province – not only for the West, which is clear, but also for the East,” Pauls told. The artist expressed regret that Russia was lost for Latvian. He called the “Market of the East” mentally closer to his people than the West.
Pauls is known on the territory of the former USSR primarily as a songwriter for stars of Soviet pop – Alla Pugacheva, Limes Vaikule and Valery Leontiev. In addition, he entered the story as a fruitful composer who wrote several musicals, ballets and instrumental compositions.
