Germany: for first time since 1946, more than a million people died over year

For 2021, more than a million people died in Germany. This is reported by the edition of Süddeutsche Zeitung.

It is noted that over the past year, 1,017,000 deaths recorded in Germany. According to the publication, mortality rates in the country first exceeded a million since 1946, when 1,001,600 residents died in the country.

The reason for record mortality of the population was considered, including the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, the aging of the FRG population plays an important role in this statistic. Süddeutsche Zeitung reminds that the elderly citizens often face dangerous complications due to COVID-19.

Earlier it was reported that in Central and Northern Germany, about 30 thousand Germans went to the streets in protest against new antique restrictive measures. Large protest actions took place in Mecklenburg, Pomerania, Thuringia, Saxony and Bradenburg. Police opened criminal cases against the organizers of rallies.
