In Alma-Ata, they extended restrictions on the operation of the international airport. According to RIA Novosti in the press service of the air harbor, it will be closed until midnight January 9th.
The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan clarified that at the moment the airport only hosts military aircraft.
Earlier it was reported that Russian peacekeepers together with Kazakhstan security forces were under control of Almaty Airport. According to the Ministry of Defense, paratroopers were transferred to the republic on IL-76 and An-124 aircraft. Thanks to their help, law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan were able to repel the air harbor.
On January 2, protests began in Kazakhstani cities due to the increase in gas prices for cars from 60 to 120 tenge. Later, they turned into disorders with the requirements for the care of the first president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev from politics, holding new elections and the dissolution of parliament. The most significant collisions occurred in the former capital of Alma-Ata.
