US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated that NATO never gave Russia promises not to expand east. An American diplomat declared this at a press conference in the State Department. His words leads TASS.
Blinken noted that the United States is fully committed to a significant dialogue with Russia for safety. He believes that the dialogue between Moscow and Washington should be “Street with a bilateral movement”. According to him, there are spheres in which progress is possible. However, the Secretary of State stressed, in case of escalation, the West is ready to apply sanctions against Russia.
Earlier, the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO did not intend to compromise with Russia. In particular, this concerns questions about the right to join the alliance. He stressed that the security dialogue with Russia is going to behave directly and openly. However, according to him, there is always a possibility that diplomacy will not bring results.
