Tokayev announced decision to include Internet in some regions of Kazakhstan

President Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev During the appeal to the nation announced the decision to include the Internet in some regions of the country at certain time intervals, RIA Novosti reports.

At the same time, the head of state stressed that free access to the Internet does not mean “free placement of fabrications, slanders, insults, incitement appeals.”

Since the beginning of the riots in different cities of Kazakhstan, several times turned off the Internet. Residents also reported the suspension of broadcasts of TV channels.

Previously, Tokayev, during the appeal to the nation, said that he had ordered to shoot on terrorists to defeat without warning. According to him, the government will not negotiate with them.

Protests in Kazakhstan began on Sunday, January 2, due to the increase in gas prices for cars from 60 to 120 tenge (from 10 to 20 rubles) per liter. Soon the economic demands were replaced by political, including the resignation of the government. By January 5, the protests turned into mass riots. Tokayev appealed to the CSTO with a request to send troops to protect the country from armed gangs.
