President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev has promised to appeal to the nation to offer a series of reforms and specific steps to implement them on the background of unrest in the country. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
Tokayev expressed confidence that due to Kazakhstan reforms “will be a strong state,” its economy is developing dynamically, and improve the social situation of citizens.
Earlier Tokayev announced the decision to include the Internet in some regions of the country at a particular time. The president stressed that free internet access does not mean “free placement fabrications, slander, insult, incitement”.
The protests started in Kazakhstan on Sunday, January 2 to 5, the number of them turned into riots. The reason was the increase in fuel prices. Tokayev appealed to the CSTO with a request to send troops to protect the country from armed gangs.
