Japan has signed an agreement on content of US military bases

Japan and the United States signed an agreement on expenses related to the placement of US military bases. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Japanese Foreign Ministry.

The meeting was held in the format of “two plus two”, the heads of foreign policy and defense departments of the two countries participated in it.

Document agreed by Tokyo and Washington covers the period from 2022 to 2026. The costs of Japan on the content of the bases for this period will be 1.055 trillion yen (9.29 billion dollars). Annual figure will be about 211 billion yen (1.85 billion dollars), which is almost 10 billion yen (86.2 million dollars) exceeds the spending of the current fiscal year, expiring on March 31.
