London metro machines declared a strike that they plan to continue before the summer. This is reported on the website of the national trade union of railway workers, maritime and other types of transport (RMT) (RMT).
In particular, the machinists on the Central and Victoria lines from January 7, 2022 before the further notice are prescribed not to take shifts on Fridays and Saturdays starting from 20:30 to 08:00 the next day. In case the strike really lasts until summer, it will become the most diverse in the history of the transport trade union.
This decision is made after refusing to lead the underground of the British capital from the class of night engineers. At the same time, the movement of night trains is resumed after a break associated with the coronavirus pandemic. This led to a violation of the balance between the work and the personal life of workers.
It is noted that the strikers will consider the “possibility of expanding actions” in the absence of an adequate response of the leadership of the London Metro. At the same time, the trade union stressed that they were open to further negotiations.
In 2017, the strike of the employees of the metro paralyzed London. Then the metropolitan workers were organized by strikes because of job reduction guidelines.
