WHO was assessed by security of Olympics in Beijing

The World Health Organization (WHO) does not see serious risks in conducting the Winter Olympics in Beijing, taking into account the strict epidemiological measures and other steps taken by the Chinese authorities on the eve of the competition.

So the safety of the upcoming games appreciated the WHO head of emergency program to Mike Ryan during a briefing, the broadcast of which is conducted on the Youtube Channel of the organization.

Epidemiologist said that WHO cooperates with the Chinese authorities in matters related to the safe conduct of the upcoming Olympic Games. In addition, the organization in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is studied by the Olympics Guidelines developed by the Chinese side.

Earlier, the Olympic Committee of Switzerland appealed to the IOC with a request to consider the possibility of transferring winter games 2022 in Beijing due to the complex epidemiological situation. The head of the Switzerland Olympic Committee Ralph Shtokley pointed to the growth of infections among athletes, which because of the disease will not be able to display for upcoming games.

On Wednesday, January 5, WHO reported 2 294 039 new cases of coronavirus infection in the world per day.

Olympiad in Beijing will be held from 4 to 20 February 2022.
