The official representative of the UN Secretary General Stefan Duzharrik said that the organization with concern follows the situation in the country. “It is very important that all the restraints involved in the current events refrain from violence and contributed to the dialogue to solve all problems,” he noted.
Protests in Kazakhstan began on Sunday, January 2, due to the increase in gas prices for cars from 60 to 120 tenge (from 10 to 20 rubles) per liter. Protesters demanded care from the policies of the first president of the Republic of Nursultan Nazarbayev.
