The US Senate may refuse sanctions against the North Stream-2 gas pipeline. This was the famous Politico.
According to the publication, the draft law on sanctions against the “Northern Flow-2” proposed by the Republican Ted Cruise will not be approved. It is noted that earlier the democrats consistently supported new limitations, but on Wednesday they “signalized a significant change in their position.” The main reason was the reluctance to interfere with US President Joe Bidenu in cooperation with Russia.
On January 4, it became known that the United States is preparing a package of sanctions against the “Northern Flow-2”. According to the representative of the Republican Party of the United States, for the adoption of the bill, which implies restrictions on the gas pipeline, 60 of the 100 votes of the members of the Senate are needed.
At the same time in December last year, Joe Biden signed the defense budget of the country for 2022, in which the North Stream-2 gas pipeline was refused. However, the law provides for funds for the containment of Russia.
