The work of banks and the stock exchange in Kazakhstan is temporarily suspended against the background of protests in the country. This is reported by the National Bank, RIA Novosti reports.
“taking into account the conducting of counter-terrorist operations by force structures and taking into account the temporary failures in the Internet, report the temporary termination of all financial organizations,” said Press Secretary of the National Bank Olzhas Ramazanov.
According to him, such measures are aimed at protecting the health and life of workers, as well as customers of financial organizations.
Protests in Kazakhstan began on Sunday, January 2, due to the increase in gas prices for cars from 60 to 120 tenge (from 10 to 20 rubles) per liter. However, later they turned into disorders with the requirements of the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev from politics, holding new elections at all levels and dissolution of parliament. The most large-scale clashes turned in the former capital of Alma-Ata.
