After the “curtain shot”, lower it from curtain. The bill which aims to transform the vaccineal passes was finally adopted at first reading by the members at about 5 o’clock in the morning, Thursday, January 6, at 214 votes for, 93 votes against and 27 abstentions. A long night of debate and work at no charge allowed members to overcome 448 amendments that remained to consider during the Wednesday session. From now on, the text is expected by the senators who will begin to examine it on Monday, January 10 in committee, after having auditioned the Minister of Health and Solidarities, Olivier Véran.
The latter pushed back to the scenes for the members to continue at the end of the night the review of the bill while the oppositions had protested on Monday on the always more constrained conditions of the parliamentary debate and rejected the idea a vote in the early morning, “in Catimini”.
m. Véran has ceased to recall the urgency of the health situation during the debates while the CIVID-19 epidemic has a unprecedented renewal in the country, after crossing a record threshold of 332,000 cases, Wednesday. But the well-running argument in two years of urgency has not been enough to take the accession of different political families, especially three months from the presidential election.
The LRs divided into three Blocks
The voting is quite revealing of the positions borrowed by the different parliamentary groups during these three days and three nights on the Palais-Bourbon. If the majority (LRM-modem-act), as usual, made block behind the executive (with only three votes against the side of the presidential party on 137 votes), some oppositions appear more cleaved in their breast on this tool now privileged by the government in its sanitary strategy.
If, unsurprisingly, the deputies La France unsubscribed (LFI), communists and non-registered, extreme right or environmentalists voted against the vaccinal pass, on the side of the Socialist deputies and especially among the Republican elected representatives (LR), This is an other story. The first, in favor of compulsory vaccination since the beginning of the sanitary crisis, voted for half of them against the text (10 against, 7 for, 3 abstentions). The LRs are divided into three almost equal blocks (28 for, 24 against and 23 abstentions). “We made a sacred performance because we finally two-thirds of the group who do not oppose the vaccinal pass”, considers the President of the LR group at the National Assembly, Damien Abad, preferring to see the glass half full rather than ‘Half empty for his candidate, Valérie Pécresse.
