In Guadeloupe, the respite will have been short-lived. The government has decreed, Wednesday, January 5, the state of health emergency in Guadeloupe, as well as in Guyana, in Mayotte, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy. “Under the effect of the Omicron Variant, the circulation of COVID-19 is experiencing a significant increase in several ultramarine territories,” the decree presented in the Council of Ministers.
Last week, after the speech of 27 December of Prime Minister, Jean Castex, the state of emergency sanitary had already been triggered at the meeting and prolonged in Martinique, department submitted to this scheme since mid-July. From Friday night, the Guadeloupéens will have to stay at home at night, between 10 pm and 5 am. The beginning of the curfew could be advanced at 8 pm on Sunday according to the evolution of the sanitary situation.
