The current president of the departmental council of the Gers and former Minister of Ecology during the Quinquennium of François Hollande, Philippe Martin, was sentenced Tuesday, January 4 in Paris to two years of suspended prison for diversion of public funds , for remunerating his ex-wife for a fictitious employment of parliamentary assistant between 2002 and 2013.

In solidarity with his ex-wife Joëlle Martin, sentenced to six months of probationary suspension for complicity and concealment of diversion of public funds, the former member of the Gers will have to reimburse the 238,000 euros which she had received at the National Assembly, Civil Party in this file.

Deputy of the Gers between 2002 and 2017, he had been Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy in the Government of Jean-Marc Ayrault, between July 2013 and April 2014.
