Seven months after the death of Chahinez Boutaa, born Daoud, six police officers, including the police boss in Gironde, are summoned in front of two discipline councils, Tuesday, January 4, according to a police source. Four officers and commissioners, including the Departmental Director of Public Safety in Gironde, Martin Levrel, are convened in Paris while two brigadiers are in Bordeaux.

These discipline councils take place in the context of the administrative procedure that followed the feminicide of Mérignac, near Bordeaux, where a man had burned his wife, of which he was separated, on the street, May 4, 2021. Already condemned for facts of marital violence, the latter, who had just left prison, had again threatened his wife. She had filed a complaint two months before being killed.

In September, a report from the IGPN, the “police police”, had established that errors or errors of assessment had been committed by several agents in the context of this femicide. In its conclusions, the IGPN did not recommend the convening to the Disciplinary Council, a decision finally taken by the Director-General of the National Police, Frédéric Calaux.

Of the four hierarchical supervisors, three men and a woman, in addition to the Departmental Director of Public Security, the Commander of West Division and his Assistant and the Commissioner of Mérignac. The penalties that may be proposed by the disciplinary proceedings, where the trade union organizations are present, will then be transmitted to the General Directorate of the National Police, which decides to validate them or not.

In July, the chained duck had revealed that the De Mérignac policeman who had taken the complaint of Chahinez Boutaa on March 15 had been sentenced on February 10 to eight months of prison with probationary suspension by the Criminal Court of Bordeaux for “violence usual on his former joint “. A discipline council met in September in Bordeaux to examine his case. According to trade union sources, the fact that this peacekeeper has been deprived by the Tribunal of his eligibility for one year led to his cancellation of the National Police.

Another consequence of this case, the former Departmental Director of Public Security of Gironde Patrick Mairesse was sanctioned by a blame, without disciplinary convocation, according to these same sources. He had been replaced in this office in March by Mr. Levrel, becoming Zonal Director of Public Security.
