Inflation maintains its rhythm in December, at 2.8% over one year

The consumer price index increased by 2.8% over one year in December, the same rate in November, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) in a first interim estimate Tuesday January 4th.

The prices of manufactured goods and food have accelerated significantly, but those of energy have slowed down 18.6% over one year, after an increase of 21.6% the previous month, a detailed the institute.

Food prices increased by 1.4% over one year in December, and 3.3% fresh produce, while manufactured products increased by 1.2%. The services have seen their prices climb 1.8% over one year.

One month, the rise in consumer prices is 0.2% cup, after 0.4% in November, thanks to a decline in energy prices in the wake of those of petroleum products. Still over a month, the prices of manufactured goods are stable while those of the services and food have seen their increase accelerate, according to these temporary figures.

Finally, L Harmonized consumption price index , calculated differently and serves as a basis for comparison at European level, increased in December 3.4% over one year, as the previous month.
