Russia: we predicted rise in price of alcohol after increasing excise

In Russia, the rise in price of alcohol was predicted after increasing the excise tax by 4.60 percent, it is expected that vodka and brandy will be added in price of 8-12 percent, Russian wines – 10-25 percent, and imported – 15-30 percent. Beer will rise in price the least, report “Izvestia”.

As explained in the Ministry of Finance, from January 1, 2022, the excise tax on a strong alcohol will amount to 589 rubles per liter of anhydrous ethyl alcohol in the tax excise. Several manufacturers informed the publication that they plan to increase the cost of their goods.

So, the “Tatspirtprom” involves the rise in price of vodka and brandy by 5.5 rubles per 0.5 liters. In “Bashpirt” noted that the bottle of vodka can become more expensive for 15-20 rubles, among the reasons were called, including inflation and rise in fuel prices and the necessary components.

Beer prices will rise, but slightly. As explained in the Association of Beer Manufacturers (APP), from January 1, 2022 there will be a planned indexation of an excise rate to the percentage of inflation, which will be one ruble and is not a surprise for the industry.

Director of the Center for Studies of the Federal and Regional Alcohol Markets Vadim Drobiz suggested that the increase in the value of alcoholic beverages will not affect the increase in the volume of illegal alcohol market. According to him, those consumers who are conditionally provided and acquire the product to retail will not go for surrogate, and those who now do not acquire legal products in stores, and will continue to acquire falsifications in illegal points. However, this situation is not new and no first year.

From January 1, alcoholic excise rose by 4-5 percent. At the same time, manufacturers began to cover the expected losses in advance due to the loss of demand.

Also from the New Year in Russia, a single minimum price of a pack of cigarettes has grown. Now it is 112 rubles. This value annually expects the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
