First in 2022 correction of ISS orbit is scheduled for January 12

The planned correction of the altitude of the orbit of the International Space Station is scheduled for January 12, 2022 and is carried out with the aim of forming ballistic conditions before dismissaling into the orbit of the piloted ship “Union MS-21” and landing “Union MS-19”.

According to preliminary data of the service of ballistic-navigation provision of the Center for Flight Management TsNIIMASH (included in the state corporation “Roskosmos”), at 21:09 Moscow time will be issued a team on the inclusion of the MS-18 Progress Cargo Ship engines, which will work 292 , 5 seconds. The impulse will be 0.54 m / s. After the corrective maneuver, the height of the station orbits will increase by 850 meters, and the average height of the orbit will grow to 417.73 km.

The parameters of the ISS orbit after the corrective maneuver should be:

  • Couch period: 92.87 min;
  • orbit: 51.66 degrees;
  • Minimum orbit height: 414.69 km;
  • Maximum Orbit Height: 436.87 km.

Now, on board the International Space Station, the crew is the crew as part of the astronauts of Roscosmos, the commander of the ISS Anton Dracker and Peter Dubrova, as well as NASA astronauts Mark Wanda Hai, Raja Chari, Thomas Marshburn, Keila Barron and Astronaut of the European Space Agency Mattias Maurer.
