Iran launched a rocket into space with a satellite. Tehran is going to withdraw the device with three research modules, al Jazeera reports with reference to Iranian state media. The launch was held against the background of the ongoing negotiations on the “nuclear transaction” in Vienna.
According to some data, the launch of the Iranian missile “Phoenix” was successful. All three modules were delivered to an near-earth orbit – to a height of 470 kilometers. The Iranian Ministry of Defense stated that he sent a space cargo to orbit for scientific purposes.
Start of the rocket occurred during the ongoing negotiations of Iran with the United States and other intermediary countries about the conclusion of a new joint comprehensive action plan (CSPD) on the TEGERAN nuclear program. In 2018, such a launch caused a sharp reaction from Washington, which unilaterally issued an agreement and resumed economic sanctions against Iran.
Negotages managed to resume in the fall of 2021, but in the United States already develop scenarios in case of failure of a new deal. A spokesman for the White House Jen Psaki earlier in December stated that Washington leads diplomatic work in this direction with other CRPD member countries.
