Russia will refuse to rent a part of Baikonur

Russia is going to give up rental 16 objects on the Baikonur cosmodrome until the end of 2022, writes RIA Novosti with reference to the source in the space industry.

According to him, Russia plans to terminate the rental of part of the cosmodrome: it was a list of objects that consider unpromising for further use. The list includes 16 objects that are now rented by Moscow.

The document got not only real estate, and part of the property has a residual value. Before conveying to Kazakhstan, it will be dealt with by Russian enterprises. The transfer of objects to the Kazakh side should take place until the end of 2022.

Earlier, the general director of Roskosmos Dmitry Rogozin spoke about the six-time reduction in the number of start-up complexes on the Baikonur cosmodrome. 25 years ago there were 18 starting complexes, there are now three.

According to him, the two starting complex are designed for the launches of heavy missiles “Proton-M”. One – for the starts of medium carriers “Soyuz-2”.
