Lavrov threatened West to consequences in case of refusal to dialogue on safety

Russia will not allow the West to “Close” its security initiatives in endless discussions. If the European Union and the United States do not respond to Russian proposals, Moscow will take all measures to eliminate threats, threatened the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with Mia Russia today.

“If a reasonable period of a constructive answer does not follow and the West will continue its aggressive line, then Russia will be forced to take all necessary measures to ensure the strategic balance and eliminating unacceptable threats to our security,” the minister said.

He also revealed the content of Moscow’s proposals for security guarantees. Initiatives are aimed at creating and legalizing a new arrangement system, which will be based on the principle of indivisibility of security and the refusal of attempts to achieve military superiority. Lavrov stressed that Russia is interested in legally binding guarantees.

Negotiations on security guarantees between Moscow, Washington and NATO will be held on January 10 in Geneva.
