Gas futures in Europe on the last day of trading in 2021 fell by more than 20 percent. This is evidenced by Ice Futures.
Bidding for February deliveries on the Dutch TTF index ended at a mark below $ 800 per thousand cubic meters. The closure price amounted to $ 779.4, while the fall falls up to $ 765.3.
In the autumn of 2021, Europe collided with a gas crisis. Because of the interruptions in the supply, low levels of completion of European storage and high demand due to low temperatures, the gas price sharply grew over several weeks.
At the peak, the price of thousands of cubic meters of gas exceeded $ 2,200. However, then quotes went on a decline, including due to redirection of tankers with liquefied natural gas (LNG), following Asia, to European ports.
