Specialists of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) offered to study the moon with the help of a levitating plate over its surface. This is reported by the Edition of Science Alert.
Scientists have developed a moonwide in the form of a disk that does not have wheels. The machine sent to the moon will rise above the surface due to the power of the electric repulsion, which occurs due to the direct effect of the sun on the natural satellite of the Earth. In the absence of an atmosphere, the lunar soil acquires a positive charge.
MIT engineers explained that the lunokow has a clamping from Mailara – created on the basis of a synthetic polyester fiber film. Majlar retains a positive charge upon contact with sunbeams. At the same time, nozzles are located at the bottom of the aircraft, which produce negatively and positively charged ions. Due to this, the balance is created – the moonport will levitate.
Scientists noted that the new lunokhod does not have wheels, that is, the probability of his breakdown is extremely small. MIT specialists successfully tested their method on the example of a prototype weighing about 60 grams, forcing the device to levitate over the surface.
