State Duma deputy, Head of the Information Policy Committee, Alexander Khinstein wanted to pick up the biometric data of Russians from the banks. The fact that financial organizations will oblige to transfer personal information, parliamentarian told “Vedomosti”.
According to him, next year, a biometric transmission mechanism in a single biometric system (EBS) will be developed, while credit organizations will not be able to keep copies of these Russian data samples.
It is expected that the existing EBS, which appeared in 2018, will be improved until the fall of 2022. Currently, it is possible to make data (samples of voice and the facet of the face) only with personal presence, and banks may leave the collected information. At the moment, the EBS contains biometric information about 216 thousand people.
New order will assume remote transmission of samples through special software. According to Hinstein, an alternative is now being worked out, which will allow banks and other companies to access “light biometry”. However, such data cannot be used to identify a person in an external environment.
It is also expected that new rules will allow third-party commercial organizations to collect biometric data of Russians, but only under the control of authorized departments – for further transmission to EBS.
