Former president of Moldova, Igor Dodon became a suspect in a criminal case of the embezzlement of $ 12 million. He reported this after interrogation in the Prosecutor General of the Republic, reports RIA Novosti.
The case for which Dodon is recognized as suspect concerns the procurement of electricity. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in early 2008, the heads of the State Entergocom state company implemented a criminal scheme. By unreasonable increase in purchasing price of imported electricity, they managed to assign public funds in the amount of $ 11.9 million. The staff of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, as well as the National Agency for Regulation, participated in collusion.
Dodon lost the presidential election in November 2020. In the second round, he scored 42.25 percent of the vote, and the former Maja Sanda Prime Minister – 57.75 percent.
