State Department to create posts for defending women’s rights in Afghanistan

The US State Department decided to create two high positions to protect and defend the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan. This is reported by NBC.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken may soon appoint a “Special Representative for Afghan Women, Girls and Human Rights” Rena Amyri, who served as the senior adviser to the US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan during the Presidency of Barack Obama. The position of advisor on these issues is supposed to take Stephanie Foster, which from 2012 to 2017 was engaged in the State Department of Women’s Global Rights.

In September, Afghan women lost opportunities to work together with men in government agencies, banks, media, as well as most companies. So, women could only work where there are no men, due to the fact that the Taliban (the “Taliban” movement is prohibited in Russia as a terrorist) decided to follow their vision of the norms of Sharia and Islamic law.

According to UN human rights defenders, the situation with the rights of Afghanistan residents is currently extremely difficult. They are beaten on the street, prohibit go to schools and kidnap.
