Russia will not unilaterally recognize the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan (“Taliban” a terrorist organization prohibited in Russia). This was stated by the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Afghanistan, director of the second Department of Asia Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov, reports RIA Novosti.
Diplomat said that de facto recognition of the new Afghan government is already happening. “We actually work full-length Russian embassy. And it is not lonely – seven embassies work, and three more or four on the way,” he noted.
Kabulov noticed that the Taliban delegation participated in a representative meeting of the Moscow Format and was invited to an extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, where heard the view of the Islamic world “on the Taliban internal policies in its religious part”.
According to the diplomat, the Russian side will raise the question of recognition before the UN Security Council, when it felt that “the necessary critical qualitative weight of the steps is made by Taliban.” “We will discuss, and if the members of the Sat will be configured constructively, then this issue will decide. We are supporters in order to solve everything together. So far there are no other ideas,” the President’s Special Representative.
