Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told about Moscow’s confidence in the fact that it is impossible to disrupt the implementation of the “Northern Flood-2”, and gas will be supplied to Europe. He stated this in an interview with RBC.
According to Novak, in recent years he has heard many different statements, including the fact that the gas pipeline will never be completed. However, he stressed that “Northern Stream-2” was completed, both threads on the bottom of the Baltic Sea were held. Vice Prime Minister noted that there were a lot of opposition, but the “caravan comes”, and the gas will be supplied to Europe.
Novak also commented on the gas situation in Europe and called the main reasons because of which high prices were established in the region for this type of fuel. He said that several factors were influenced by a gas crisis in Europe, among which – a targeted refusal of the European Commission from long-term contracts in favor of spotting, cold winter last year and the risks of repetition of cold weather this winter.
