On Monday, December 27, 2021, at 16:10:37 Moscow time from the start-up setting No. 6 of the site No. 31 of the Baikonur cosmodrome, the launch of the “Soyuz-2.1b” launch vehicle was launched with an overclocking unit “Frigate” and 36 cosmic ONEWEB’s devices. This start has become the twelfth in the framework of the OneWeb joint program.
The sequential separation of nine groups of spacecraft from the Russian acceleration unit passed in accordance with the cyclogram. During an autonomous flight, eleven active sites were provided: three inclusions of the marching motor installation (the latter – in order to deliver an accelerated block to the “Orbit”) and eight inclusions of the motor setting of stabilization, orientation and ensuring the launch required for the safe separation of satellites.
The overseas customers of the company “Glavkosmos” (enters Roscosmos) confirmed the implementation of contractual obligations. All devices are collected by the customer. Upon completion of the breeding and separation of spacecraft, the Overclocking unit “Frigate” will be reduced from the near-earth orbit, and the non-aggravated elements flood in the non-heated part of the Pacific Ocean.
The launch of spacecraft is made on request of the European Provider of Arianespace launch services (Operator of the ONEWEB spacecraft) and Starsem in the framework of the Glavokosmos contracts. It was carried out by the joint settlement of Roskosmos subsidiaries: the Progress Rocket and Space Center, the S.A. Scientific and Production Association Lavochkina, Center for Operations of Ground Space Infrastructure, Russian Space Systems, Glavkosmos, as well as foreign customers.
About the accelerated block “Frigate”
Overclocking block “Frigate” provides effective execution of all tasks to remove one or more devices on working orbits or flying from the land of the trajectory. The entire removal process is carried out autonomously, without interference from the Earth. The highest reliability and practically the ideal elimination accuracy provide an accelerated block of indisputable competitive advantages in the global space launch market.
Basic accelerated block “Frigate” marked the beginning of a whole family of highly efficient acceleration blocks that are created and created on its basis. Application on the “frigate” of additional fuel capacities and a discharged Bakove block (“Frigate-MT” and “Frigate-Sat”) made it possible to significantly increase the mass of fuel refilled and, thereby, increase the efficiency of the accelerated unit.
The basis of the structural and layout diagram of the Overclocking block “Frigate” is a block of tanks, built on a monoblock bearing scheme. It has a torusferic configuration consisting of six spherical tanks, separated by spherical bottoms. Four of them are the pots of oxidizing agent and fuel, two tanks are compartments for the placement of onboard devices and equipment (one of them is sealed).
