In Russia, the first nuclear power plant will appear for the production of hydrogen, it is planned to be launched by 2033, and to introduce into industrial operation – by 2036. About this RIA Novosti reported Director General of the Machine-Building Division of the State Corporation Rosatom Holding Atomenergomash Andrei Nikipelov.
According to the head of the holding, Atomenergomash can take part in the development of the Nuclear Energy Station project (ATS) for the production of hydrogen and in the creation of equipment systems for its storage and transportation. Currently, the development of a sketch project of a high-temperature gas cooled reactor (VTGR) is completed, it must be completed in 2023.
It is assumed that at the beginning of 2025, the holding will receive a license to accommodate ATS, and by the autumn of the same year will develop project documentation. “The physical launch of the first unit of ATCs is scheduled for the end of 2032, and in December 2035, the introduction of the Head Ages to Industrial Operation is expected,” said Nikipelov.
it added that the VTGR reactor housing can be made by the Atommash plant in Volgodonsk of the Rostov region on the technology of manufacturing the buildings of Russian VVER-1000 reactors, which are now working at many nuclear power plants.
Earlier, the Ministry of Energy has prepared a program for the development of low carbon hydrogen energy. According to the plan, Russia will export every year to three million tons of hydrogen by 2030 and up to 12 million tons by 2050. The ministry appreciated the investment in a program at $ 26 billion, of which nine billion will go to the creation of a logistics infrastructure. The Ministry of Energy program describes four scenarios for the development of production and sale abroad both “blue” hydrogen and environmentally friendly “green” hydrogen.
