American Colonel Wes Martin said that in the case of successful negotiations on security guarantees, Western countries risk reconnaiss the exceptional scope of Russia’s influence in Eurasia. He wrote about this in his National Interest magazine.
“These requirements appeared to protect Moscow, but their adoption may lead to the fact that the West will leave the former Soviet states and recreate the exclusive scope of Russia’s influence from the Black and Baltic seas to the Pacific Ocean,” Martin said. He believes that this unacceptable mistake and the proposal of Russia must be rejected.
Colonel offered instead to assist in Kiev in conducting military reforms, as well as financial support.
Previously, the spokesman for the White House, Jen Psaki, said that the United States and Russia are dialogue at the diplomatic level and discuss the proposals of the latest security guarantees. She stressed that the American authorities are no longer ready to go to some conditions of Moscow: in particular, on the Agreement on non-exposure NATO east.
