The cultural symbols of the XVIII and XIX century were historically Belarusian tradition – balls and dances, castles and palaces. This opinion was shared by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the Telegram channel Atn.
Lukashenko aproinded the traditions of European powers during speech at the opening of the New Year’s Bala in the presidential palace. “For the fourth year in a row on the eve of this long-awaited holiday, we spend the ball in the palace of the independence of the ball, reviving historical traditions. I emphasize our historical traditions,” the Belarusian president announced.
As Lukashenko believes, Belarus is the country of palaces and castles, where the Viennese, Polish and Russian balls were held. But the Belarusian balls appeared after the announcement of the independence of the republic. “Only in the history of our independence, the beautiful ball’s tradition became our Belarusian,” the president stressed and went to dance Waltz.
Ballas were widely developed in Europe during the Yellow Emperor Louis XIV, determining the fashion for this kind of court holidays for two centuries ahead. In the Russian empire, the composition of which the Belarusian lands were also included, the Emperor Petr Great brought the tradition. One of the last and most memorable historical balls in Europe was the costume Ball of 1903, held on the initiative of the wife of Emperor Nikolai II Alexandra Fedorovna.
The current Ball of Lukashenko also found an elegant. “Well, what will you say after such a beautiful? It is difficult to say even to me – a man who is accustomed to talking a lot,” the president shared emotions. Earlier, Lukashenko called himself a rustic man.
