The Iranian authorities will initiate the establishment of a refugee organization in the country due to a sharp alpinement of migrants from Afghanistan. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Iranian IRNA Agency.
“Creating an organization that will solve the problems of millions of migrants, standing on the agenda of the government,” said Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi. He explained that the agency, in particular, would help the Afghan refugees who live in the republic and especially in the province of Fars in the south.
According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), more than 780 thousand refugees from Afghanistan now live in Iran, while only 2021 in countries arrived around half a million refugees. In addition, more than 2.2 million Afghans are in the country illegally. Refugees in Iran were provided access to the health care system, education and work.
