Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated that the price of gas in Europe will remain high in 2022, the TASS reports. The cost of fuel in the region at the end of December has established another historical maximum, rising to $ 2187.
“The balance of demand and suggestions is that the price [for gas] is high enough. I think that next year it will be at high levels,” the deputy chairman of the government predicted. In recent days, fuel prices in Europe grow especially quickly, as Gazprom froze the supply on the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline. The company does not book power for 4 days in a row.
Novak added that Russia has always adhered to the position that long-term gas contracts are the most reasonable decision. “When importing in Europe is about 250-300 billion cubic meters of gas, then it is necessary to understand where it will come from, and to count on, in my opinion, first of all for a long-term contract,” the Deputy Prime Minister explained. Many buyers from Europe have already exhausted their limits for deliveries at prices laid down in long-term contracts. Because of this, they have to pay for additional volumes at record market prices.
