The export of weapons on interstate and private contracts collapsed to 138 billion dollars in 2021 fiscal year (minus 21 percent year by year). This is reported by TASS with reference to the data of the State Department of the country.
The total amount approved by the State Department of Intergovernmental Contacts for the supply of weapons was 34.81 billion dollars. The amount of similar contracts in the private sector was 103.4 billion dollars. In the 2020 fiscal year, these figures were 50.78 and 124.3 billion dollars, respectively. The total sales of American weapons was $ 175 billion.
Earlier it was reported that in 2020 sales of Russian weapons decreased by 6.5 percent compared with 2019, from $ 28.2 billion to 26.4 billion.
This indicator decreases the third year in a row, and for the last period, Russian companies showed one of the sharpest falls among all market participants. The peak of sales of domestic weapons was 2017, when suppliers from Russia accounted for five percent of the global market.
