Indonesia refuses plans to acquire Russian Su-35 fighters. The country’s air force (Air Force) is viewed by Boeing F-15EX Eagle II and Dassault Rafale as an alternative. This is reported by Defence News with reference to the statement of the headquarters of the Main Marshal of Aviation Fadjara Prasietio.
During the speech at the airbase, Khalim Perdanakusuma Prasietio noted that the decision on the choice between Boeing F-15Ex Eagle II and Dassault Rafale was accepted with the Defense Office of Indonesia.
Prasietio stressed that SU-35 had to abandon due to budget constraints. According to him, if Indonesia chooses F-15EX Eagle II, supplies will begin already in 2027.
In 2015, Indonesia chose Su-35 as a new fighter. Negotiations on the supply of 11 aircraft were held in February 2018, and in 2019 planned to start the C-35 transmission. In October 2018, the sources reported that the supply will be postponed due to American sanctions.
