Demand for shale oil in this European country is growing. At the price of it is profitable, noted the financial director of the Energy Company VKG Yaanis Sepp. Deputy Executive Director of the Energy Firm Adven Baltikum Rivo Melsis said that the heat generated from shale oil is several times cheaper than gas. The company has about a dozen gas boiler houses, and where there is a corresponding equipment, switched to shale oil.
At the same time, in other gas boilers, a quick transition to this type of fuel does not make sense, since the construction of infrastructure and supply of equipment will require time. The problem with the oil is that by 2025, new environmental requirements for emissions will come into force. It will require significant investments in the cleaning equipment, which makes the use of shale oil inappropriate.
Shalast oil (or shale oil) – non-traditional oil obtained from combustible shale. It can be used directly as fuel or processed on the refinery. Sulfur and nitrogen impurities are removed, and hydrogen is added to hydrocarbons.
On Tuesday, December 21, gas selection from European storage facilities became the maximum since the beginning of the heating season, reaching 762 million cubic meters. On the same day, the cost of gas in Europe for the first time in history exceeded 2 thousand dollars per thousand cubic meters. The next day, December 22, at the maximum it rose to $ 2190.
