The offer of the North Atlantic Alliance on holding a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council (SRN) on security guarantees is an important step. The Supreme Representative of the European Union (EU) on foreign policy and security Josep Borrel supported the offer of the Alliance, reports TASS.
According to Head of Eurodiplomia, NATO’s invitation to dialogue in response to Russian proposals made out last week is a serious action to ensure peace in Europe. “C will interact with both the United States and NATO, to ensure that its interests in any possible discussion with Russia on European security issues,” concluded Borrel.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the first round of negotiations between Russia and the United States on security guarantees starts at the very beginning of 2022. The Minister noted that there is a consent between Washington and Moscow there is a consent to use three tracks of negotiations. He called the business reaction of American colleagues.
On December 21, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated that the authorities plan to organize bilateral negotiations with Russia on NATO and the OSCE. According to him, countries agreed to lead diplomatic work on different channels.
