The company proposed to record data of the passport data on vaccination on the chips with a size of rice grain and implant them under the skin. When checking a certificate for obtaining a vaccine from COVID-19 in public places, the user can stretch out a hand with a chip hidden under the skin and demonstrate a virtual document.
According to the representatives of the startup, the chip is fully safe for its carrier, does not cause an allergic reaction and can be both quickly installed under the skin and removed. “Implants are a universal technology that can be used for a variety of purposes, and now it is very important that the certificate of vaccination is always at hand,” the head of Epicenter Hannes Schalebed.
The company also said that the chip is not required to work a special application or a gadget, the information is read during an approximation of the smartphone of the controller or an employee of a particular institution towards the user’s hand. Ciebelated said that since 2015, similar chips use about 100 startup employees instead of skipping. The cost of the chip is not disclosed.
