Europe’s authorities found a way to escape from high gas prices. According to the Executive Vice-Chairman of the European Commission (EC) Margrete Vestier, the EU dependence on gas will decline if you accelerate the transition to renewable sources. Her words brings Interfax.
“The sooner we come to renewable energy sources, the sooner the peak of jumps of prices for fossil sources is avoided,” she stated. According to Vestier, the current jump in prices has become a record, and the EU is importing the greatest part of the gas.
Earlier on December 21, the delivery futures for the Netherlands Hub TTF exceeded $ 2,000 per thousand cubic meters, and a few hours later, the price rose to $ 2150 – in just a day the price jumped 27 percent.
The rise in price of gas in Europe occurs against the background of the termination of the supply of Gazprom on the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline, passing through the territory of Belarus and Poland. The fuel on it began to act in a reverse direction towards Poland.
