After his series of transhumanist science fiction Sense8, broadcast on Netflix from 2015 to 2018, Lana Wachowski had decided to stop turning. His sister Lilly, two years his youngest, received the series, was of the same opinion. Tandem Wachowski wanted to pause, after marking the film industry with Matrix, their film-worship released in 1999, extended by two episodes (Matrix Reloaded, Matrix Revolutions). At the time, the trilogy was signed by the Wachowski brothers, Larry and Andy. Since then, the two directors have carried out their gender transition. In 2010, Larry became Lana; In 2016, Andy became Lilly.

Stanley Kubrick 2001 film, the Odyssey of the space, released in 1968, marked Lana. It first hated the black monolith which allows one of the primates to dominate its congeners. When his father explained to him the symbolic dimension of the work, “something was triggered in me,” she told the New Yorker in a portrait published in September 2012. 2001 is one of the reasons why I make movies “.

The day of the start of the school year, in 9 e (equivalent to the e in France) she went to the row of girls, conscious at the same time as she did not have adequate outfit. Unable to join the boys, she positioned himself in the middle, at the intersection of genres, under the prohibited look of the nun and other students. “After that, I hid and found a great comfort in the books, preferring imaginary worlds to this one.”
