Prices for champagne in Russia wanted to raise from new year

Association of sparkling wines manufacturers wanted to index the minimum retail price (MRC) on champagne. With such an initiative, the organization appealed to the Ministry of Finance of Russia, reporting “Izvestia”.

Winemakers asked the Ministry of Finance to raise the prices of champagne by almost 18 percent already from the new, 2022 years. Business representatives believe that MRCs should be raised to this drink from 169 rubles for 0.75 liters to 199 rubles. When purchasing plants, the cost of a bottle of champagne is offered to designate at the level of 140 rubles instead of 118.

Such a proposal in the Association was explained by increasing excise on sparkling wine from January 1, 2022. They added that the cost of goods also increased. Therefore, manufacturers, observing champagne production technologies, do not fit into current minima. However, retail chains require supplying products at minimal prices, which can lead to the appearance of cheaper and dangerous champagne falsification.

Responsible secretary of the federal self-regulating organization of wine-making and winemakers Dmitry Kiselev stressed that high-quality Russian champagne in retail should cost at least 250 rubles, since the production of beverage and raw materials for him. These factors need to be reflected in the MRC, because “the production of champagne is the highest pilot in winemaking.”

In “Auchan” stated that they were experiencing difficulties with the supply of sparkling wines of Russian production at the lowest price. This circumstance was tied up with fault. “As for the price, we fix a minor increase in the amount of five percent compared to the same period of 2020,” the representative of the trading network emphasized.

Previously, Russians warned about the rise in price of the New Year’s table. The middle festive check, including gifts, has increased by 3.5 thousand rubles.
